Welcome to Medlock's art studio.

Rudy Medlock began teaching at Asbury University in 1971, and following 37 years of teaching and developing the art department, he retired professor emeritus.  At Asbury, he taught all art classes, but specialized primarily in ceramics, sculpture, 3-D design, and stained glass, as well as taught hundreds of directed studies, and served as department chair throughout most of his time at Asbury.  In the late 70s, he co-founded what is now CIVA (Christians in the Visual Arts) along with colleagues Ed Knippers and Eugene Johnson.  Medlock invested his sabbaticals in stone carving (in Indiana, and in Italy) and touring Europe's museums, galleries, and art studios.  In his retirement he continues to teach for Asbury as needed, he works in his studio, continues to exhibit ceramics and sculpture, and has accomplished several large-scale stained glass commissions.  Rudy and Pat have traveled extensively around the world but love to call Wilmore home.  They have three grown children (Paige, Mia, and Gentry) and three grandkids.  Together, Rudy and Pat extend their creative hospitality through The Potters Inn B&B in Wilmore, Kentucky.

Rudy Medlock's art studio is located a mile outside of Wilmore, Kentucky, near Asbury University and Asbury Theological Seminary, and a few miles north of Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill.

Below are a brief introduction and links to Medlock's more recent exhibits and news.  Use the tabs to discover more about his art and studio.  View the slideshow on the sidebar to see an overview of his 50 year portfolio of work in ceramics, sculpture, and glass, and link here to see a brief video of his thoughts on collaboration and co-creation, filmed by Philip White for the CIVA 2021 conference.
