Stone Sculpture

Rudy Medlock works in various types of stone including marble; he has carved in Italy as well as  he annual Sylacauga Marble Festival (Alabama), however the stone that he often chooses to sculpt is limestone from the quarries where he was raised: Bedford, Indiana.  His subject matter is most often the resurrection of Christ - communicating the mystery and power of the world-altering moment on the third day after the crucifixion, when the stone was rolled away from the tomb of Christ and, as U2 sings, "the grave is now a groove".  He has commissioned sculptures installed at Asbury University and Asbury Theological Seminary, in addition to his numerous exhibits.
